  SWVR BOARD GAMES GROUP
Our small friendly group is looking for new members. We get together in a member’s home 4 times a year on Saturdays and enjoy a ‘bring and share’ lunch part way through.  Roger has a vast library of games - there’s something for everyone.  Some are tactical strategy games but many are fun games where winning depends on a lucky roll of the dice or perhaps on knowing (or guessing) the correct answers to quiz questions.  No experience required just a love of playing games.

30th Anniversary Celebration Walks: Save The Dates

At the recent AGM we outlined the idea of a 30 mile celebration walk to mark the Group’s 30th anniversary year.  This would NOT involve a non-stop 30 mile walk around the borough!!  but rather a series of short walks, arranged across three days and split into sections, that would add up to 30 miles in total and that people would be able to join and do as much or as little as they chose. And we will try and include picnics and lunches within the walks. The logistics are still being worked out by Walk Leaders.  But do save the dates.  These are Thursday 8 May to Saturday 10 May.  And we are also planning a celebratory party on Saturday 17 May.

ALSO

Are there any budding DJ’s out there?  Following a meeting for the 30th anniversary party, we found we were stumped as to how to download and play music for the event. If anyone can help with equipment, speakers and know-how, please contact me.  I’m not asking for professional equipment or anything too loud, but the hall does need something bigger than a normal CD player which was the limit of our knowledge.

We are also planning an article for submission to the South East Walker and would love to hear from any members who were there at our inception.  I was thinking perhaps we could get together for a cup of coffee and I can ‘pick your brains’ for your memories.

Hope to hear from you, Many thanks,

Marian

Surrey County Council have launched a survey about the area they look after, which is known as “Surrey’s Countryside Estate” and comprises approximately 10,000 acres of Surrey’s beautiful countryside.  We walk in many of these areas, (they are listed on the map as you open the survey) and questions include the state of the paths and waymarking of routes.  It’s worth adding your comments if you want to.

SABRE have arranged a HF walking holiday in the Lake District at HF Monk Coniston on 5 – 12 September. They have taken the entire house but have rooms still available are inviting members from other groups to join them. The cost would be £1064 per person. 13/05/2025 (Tue) MOLE VALLEY RAMBLERS: DROP KICK BREWERY
Mole Valley Ramblers are arranging a special visit to Drop Kick Brewery (near Dorking) on Tuesday 13 May. They have invited other groups to join them for a walk, a pint and a pizza. You need to buy your own ticket using this link and choose one of the two walks on offer (and let Abdul from Mole Valley Ramblers know). The walks will include a lunchtime stop over at the Brewery where pizza, made by 500 Degrees Sliced, will be available (need to order in advance). It does sound a nice opportunity to walk with a different group and have a fun day out. Please contact Abdul for further information. His contact details are:-
